We love math!  Math is all around us, and we see the world in numbers.  So we wanted to describe ourselves through numbers!

Common Factors:

15 – the number of years we’ve been married to our husbands!  Allison met her husband in college, at Appalachian State, in the marching band (she was a majorette and he was a drum major)! Jamie met her husband when they were teaching at the same school in Arizona!

7– the number of years we’ve been friends!  Our kids met when they were in the same first grade class and still good friends.  We immediately connected by talking about education.

6 –  the number of years we’ve been presenting together!  We started presenting together about mathematics instruction almost immediately.  We both see learning as a process that is led by the kids.

1 – the number of years we have been educational consultants together with i-Leadr

>1,000 – the number of times we talk on the phone to each other

Hello everyone! My name is Jamie Beecham.  I grew up in a family of mathematicians so I like to describe myself in numbers!

2 – the number of kids I have! I have one son and one daughter, who are the sunshines of my life.

20 – the number of years in education!  I have been a K-3 teacher, an instructional coach, a 3-8 gifted education teacher, an education consultant and now I own and teach at my preschool.

7 – the number of pets we have at our house!  We have 4 chickens (Hermione, Cleo, Vader and Lovebug), 2 cats (Charlotte and Phoenix) and one energetic little dog (Chewie- short for Chewbacca)

3 – the number of states that I’ve lived in.  I grew up on the East Coast, spent 15 amazing years teaching in Arizona and making the best friends, and then moved to North Carolina to be near the best sister in the world!

6 – the number of times I’ve seen Bon Jovi in concert.  He just gets better and better!

1 – the number of Nonprofits I run with my sister.  We started Sassy Caps, an organization in honor of our mother who died from cancer in 2012.  We make soft and fun hats and port pillows for people currently going through chemotherapy.

Hi!  My name is Allison Kiser.  I did not like math as a child, but I gained confidence in my math skills, and grew to love math during high school and college.

4 – the number of children I have (3 daughters and a 1 son) and also the number of siblings I have (3 brothers and 1 sister).  They all mean the world to me.

18 – the number of years I have been in education- I have been an elementary school teacher, a middle school math/science teacher, an instructional coach, a district curriculum director, an educational consultant, and a homebound teacher.

2 – the number of states I have lived in. I was born in New York, and moved to North Carolina when I was a child.  Most of my family has moved to NC now!

43,598 – the amount of money we have raised for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society over the past four years, in honor of my eight-year old son, who has been battling cancer since 2016.

9 – the number of years my four children have been in dance classes at their wonderful dance studio.  They are competitive dancers and take ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary dance classes!
