Description
There are 4 sections to this project: 1) Writing Ratios 2) The Candy Exchange 3) The Best Candy Deal 4) Buying Candy. You can do all of the project or just work through one section.
In this project, students will solve a ratio/proportion reasoning puzzle as they exchange candy between the characters in the Halloween story. Students will be engaged as they manipulate the candy pieces to understand and reason with proportional thinking. Students will then use proportional reasoning to solve problems involving the cost and amount of various types of candy. Several problems are included so students can gain an understanding of unit rates, ratios and proportions.
