Description

Directions for using this resource:

  • ‘The Number of the Day’ activity can be completed by students as a daily warm-up or a center activity or a homework assignment.
  • Each day, the teacher should post or write a number on the board that will be ‘the number of the day’.
  • The number can be dependent on what the students are working on or what they have already learned- a whole number, a fraction, a decimal, a percent, etc.
  • The students should complete the 10 tasks for the number of the day. The 10 tasks can be made into a bulletin board or poster to save paper.
  • The students can work individually, in pairs, or small groups to complete the ‘number of the day’ tasks.
  • The students can use a math journal, notebook paper, or a blank template (included) to record their answers.
  • The blank template included in this resource can be used for students’ answers or for the teacher to make up their own tasks for the students to do with the number of the day.
